Volunteering

We rely on people like you to generously give of your time as we serve God’s Kingdom to the youth who comes to our farm. 

Ways to Get Involved:

Prayer Warrior | Volunteer | Donate Financially | Sponsor a Horse | Donate a Horse (Age 8-15), Able to work with kids (no kick, buck, bite), seasoned in riding. Please contact us for more info!

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

CHORE HELPER

Must not mind getting dirty

Must be flexible in tasks asked to perform

Hours can be used toward community service requirements

Schedule can be flexible

Daily Needs:

  • Feed animals 
  • Fill-up water troughs every a.m. 7x/week 
  • Sweep floors 
  • Wash bits 
  • Scoop poop
  • Clean stalls 

winter 1x/day with snow and/or ice

other seasons as needed with rain 

Weekly Needs

  • Fill water buckets 3-4x/wk in the summer
  • Clean mice droppings from boots, helmets and surrounding area  
  • Clean bathroom and sweep/mop floors
  • Empty garbages on Wednesdays into green garbage can
  • File confidential paperwork if approved 
  • Clean, sweep, organize and restock the ministry room 

Monthly Needs

  • Clean grain buckets 
  • Clean out grooming kits and tools 
  • Dust cobwebs throughout barn
  • Organization barn
  • Clean up grounds and organization if needed
  • Wash horses when weather permitting
  • Wash halters and lead ropes
  • Wipe down and condition tack
FARM GENERAL WORKER

Must not mind getting dirty

Must be flexible in tasks asked to perform

Hours can be used toward community service requirements

Schedule can be flexible

  • Work with all the animals – horses, goats, chickens, bunnies, pig 
  • Cleaning animal pens and areas 
  • Grooming certain animals
  • Various painting projects
  • Water plants in ministry area
  • Schedule is flexible
FARM MAINTENANCE WORKER

Building background helpful

Knowledge of a working farm

Schedule can be flexible 

Experience with tools and tractors

Must be able to work independently 

  • Building/improvement projects
  • Painting
  • Stacking hay when needed with tractor
  • Moving dirt/sand
  • Mending fences/gates and keeping farm in good working condition
HORSE TRAINER

Must have horse experience and work independently once trained 

Western and/or English riding backgrounds would be helpful

  • Ground work training minimum 3x/week
  • Riding minimum 3x/week with each horse 
  • 1-3 hours/day per horse depending on if they do both groundwork and riding  
  • Ground work and riding can be split up 
  • Training may take more time if a horse needs extra work
  • Work one-on-one with supervisor for training, goals, and problems 
HORSE HANDLER / MENTOR

Must have horse knowledge

Will walk through personal struggles with youth while using horsemanship skills

Love Jesus

Should be minimum of 21 years old but younger volunteers will be considered

Also looking for a male or a couple 

  • 20 hours/month in fall/winter/spring
  • More hours needed in summer due to increased available hours to serve youth including camps
  • Goal to provide summer day camp: 1-2 days and 4 days week long camps/month or 1 per summer
  • Shorter summer programs are available for those needing less counseling
  • 2 volunteers/youth
TRANSPORTER

Must have a good driving record

Love Jesus

Must be comfortable having conversation with youth

  • Transport youth to and from 2nd Chance Farm
  • Will wait at the farm if needed as sessions are 1 1/2 – 2 hours
  • Special activities hours may vary
  • Commit to the duration of youth’s program
BIBLE STUDY TEACHER / MENTOR

Love Jesus

Knowledge of God’s Word

Able to teach his truth to others

Must have a passion for discipleship 

  • Will walk alongside youth to grow their relationship with Jesus
  • Commit to 1 ½ hours/week for the length of the study
  • Will work one-on-one or in a group setting 
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Various skills, gifts, resources needed

Flexible commitment 

  • Provide meals, snacks or drinks
  • Help with fundraising 
  • Help organize events 
  • Take pictures
  • Work on design projects
